Mandy Burvill

Mandy studied at Trinity College of Music with Keith Puddy and Hale Hambleton, and subsequently spent 10 years as 2nd and E flat clarinet in the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra. She is currently pursuing a varied freelance career, playing with orchestras including the BBC Philharmonic, Hallé, Northern Sinfonia, Manchester Camerata, Northern Ballet and City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra.

Since leaving the RLPO Mandy has been able to concentrate more on outreach work. She works for the RLPO and Mersey Care’s award-winning Musician in Residence programme as an adopted musician where she leads weekly sessions with adults and older people with mental health problems, dementia, learning disabilities and brain injury. Mandy is also part of the In Harmony team in West Everton, working with individual children, aiming to empower through music and play.

Mandy teaches at the Royal Northern College of Music and Manchester University in addition to her own private teaching practice. She has made a number of concerto appearances with orchestras including Salomon Orchestra, Corinthian Chamber Orchestra, Haydn Chamber Orchestra, Kensington Chamber Orchestra. She was also the winner of the Britten-Pears Concerto Competition and performed the Mozart concerto at the opening of the Snape Proms.
